The 5 good things I did staying home during the pandemic…became my way to flourish in a world I could no longer be social in. Below are the 5 good things I accomplished.
1. Additional time with my family during the pandemic
We are blessed that our youngest son, daughter-in-law and 2 little grandsons live down the road from us. They have been an important part of our core group of people from the start. We have enjoyed many family dinners together and shared grocery items from our freezers and pantries. By sharing precious time and foods, we definitely excelled in frugal and deliciousness!
2. Checking things off my “To Do” List kept me busy and productive during the pandemic
Heading into the pandemic my “To Do” list had over 50 items (seriously, no exaggerations). With the extra time at home, I’ve been diligently getting things done and crossing them off my list. And I’m thrilled to say…my list has less than 10 items now. Whoo Hoo!! If you could see me, I’m honestly doing a happy dance just thinking about it! A definite weight of numerous tasked responsibilities has been lifted from my brain. I look forward to writing future blog posts sharing many of those frugal and delicious accomplishments from my to do list.
3. Raising chickens for a supply of eggs to overcome fears of food shortages
We started raising chickens for a supply of eggs…to reduce our fears of potential food shortages during the pandemic. By partnering with our fabulous next door neighbors and splitting the costs of raising chickens to lay eggs, has benefited both families. The hens are 7 months old now and producing the most flavorful, cute little brown eggs ever! Our families have enjoyed many meals from these wonderful eggs. And the chickens have become like pets…eating out of our hands, letting us hold and pet them. Raising chickens is a frugal and delicious venture along with a morale booster.
4. Adjusted my garden for additional food sources during the pandemic
I increased the size and structure of my garden to provide more food for my family. And I planted vegetables in containers instead of flowers to have more food sources. Cabbage plants were beautiful on our front porch and baskets of squashes provided bright, yellow edible blossoms hanging from my herb planter. We’ve enjoyed and shared many fresh vegetables this summer. Plus, I froze, canned and pickled a bounty of vegetables to enjoy in the months ahead. And I dried and froze many herbs that I harvested as well. All the extra creative gardening was fun and very rewarding. It kept me occupied and it saved us a lot of money. Gardening is so rewarding along with being frugal and delicious!

5. I created this website for my Blog during the pandemic
Creating this website for my blog is the icing on my creative cake. Building a blog website has been a bucket list item of mine for many years. I quickly discovered how very difficult and beyond my comfort zone building a website can be. I refused to let the difficulties stop me. By overcoming the challenges and completing the website, I knew my helpful hints for a frugal and delicious lifestyle could help others. I’m thrilled and relieved it’s done and I can’t wait to share all my tips and tricks with you!
