  About Us…

Hi folks,
Welcome to my blog Frugal and Delicious!
I’m so honored to have you visit. Grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, then relax and enjoy the frugal and deliciousness that has become my world…I’m so excited to share it with you.
I will admit…I wasn’t always this frugal. But, life threw me a curve ball when my husband (Mike) was unexpectedly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008.
Before the diagnosis, we lived a comfy life with 2 incomes. He was a retail manager and I owned and operated my own bakery. Our 2 sons were grown and away at college Mike and I were preparing for life as empty nesters. Life was good until Mike got sick.
We weren’t mentally, physically or financially prepared for this awful disease, nor the changes that our lives were about to endure. He lost his job and his medical insurance. The bills came piling in and his condition worsened. I had to close my business and stay home to care for him. Our only income came by way of his monthly disability check. Therein began our need for a frugal lifestyle.
In much the same ways that my grandparents survived the depression by believing in the “waste not, want not” principle, my husband and I quickly learned how to become very frugal with our money, our foods and our life in general.
Two years ago, we made the biggest decisions of our lives. We sold our beloved home of 21 years-a huge beautiful 5 bedroom farmhouse in the Adirondack region of Upstate New York. We downsized (a lot) and moved to a cute little 2 bedroom farmhouse in the hills of Eastern Tennessee. Our new state has a much lower cost of living and a better climate for Mike’s health. The area we live in is gorgeous (so similar to what we were used to-but with less snow!). The people here are so kind and sweet-definitely my kind of peoples! Our drastic move and all the changes, were the best decisions we ever made and quite honestly…we have never been happier!
Our frugal lifestyle has encouraged me to embrace frugal challenges with great pride and excitement. Some challenges may only yield small rewards, but others much larger. And yes folks…every penny does count. I’m proud of what we have done and how far we have come.
I would like to help others by sharing what frugal tips I have learned. This blog and website have been a bucket list item of mine for many years. I hope you enjoy it and will share it with others.
Wishing you many blessings and dollars saved.
Your frugal friend,
Chauncey
P.S. Other than being frugal, my other obsessions are my amazing family, living in our little farmhouse in the country, having cows, horses and goats for neighbors, taking an excessive number of photos, cooking, baking, trash to treasure projects, crafting and gardening. And, my newest obsession…the decorating themes that include those fabulous vintage trucks-especially the blue ones. I’m so excited to share my obsessions in future posts with you!
