Tomato jam made in an Instant Pot®? Yes folks, it is a thing! Using an instant pot to make tomato jam creates a delicious mixture that is quick and easy to make.
Delicious Uses For Instant Pot® Tomato Jam
This jam is not sweet like your normal berry jams. It’s savory with warm slightly spicy undertones. I love using it in place of the “T” in a BLT sandwich and I often use it as you would a barbeque flavored ketchup. Its super delicious on burgers or grilled chicken and in a turkey sandwich or even a grilled cheese sandwich. You can also add it to softened cream cheese spread on a cracker. Give this a try and let me know what your favorite uses were.
The Instant Pot® is Jammin’
For years I always made this jam on top of the stove. But since I’m limited on standing time (pesky fractured femur and all)…this year I thought I would try using my instant pot to speed up the process and make it easier. Honestly, I liked making it this way so much…I expect this will be my normal process when making this jam.
Here’s The Recipe For Instant Pot® Tomato Jam…

Instant Pot® Tomato Jam
Equipment
- 1 Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 4 Cups Ripe Tomatoes-cored, cut into chunks A mixture of varieties is fine
- 2/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1½ TBsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- ¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp Ground Cloves
- ¾ tsp Salt
- 5-6 shakes Bottled Hot Sauce
- 1 TBsp Butter
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients and your instant pot®
- Be sure to cut and core the larger tomatoes. The cherry and smaller tomato varieties can be left whole
- Add all the ingredients into the instant pot® (except for the butter-save that for later)
- Stir the mixture to combine the ingredients
- Close the lid and seal
- Set to manual cook for 5 minutes
- After the cooking process is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release
- After 15 minutes, release any remaining pressure and open the lid
- The mixture will appear watery-that's ok
- Carefully use an immersion blender to smooth all the tomato chunks and skins
- Now add the butter-it reduces foaming and adds flavor
- When a nice pureed texture is achieved, set the instant pot to sauté
- Bring to a boil, stir constantly and allow the mixture to reduce and thicken to a jammy ketchup consistency
- Allow to cool slightly and place mixture into a mason jar or plastic container with a sealable lid
- Store in refrigerator for up to 10 days or freeze to use later
