Just Crack an Egg…I’m not gonna lie, I always wondered about this product. But, it’s a bit pricey and I thought it was kind of silly because I could certainly make all this at home myself.
Bargain shopping inspired a Just Crack an Egg purchase
While grocery shopping at our local Food Lion one day, I saw 2 marked down containers of Just Crack an Egg that were about to expire. The bargain price swayed me into purchasing them just to see what the hype is all about.
Busy days leave little time to both cook and eat
As a caregiver, I often have to skip meals…just no time for me.
In a normal day, I usually can’t afford the luxury of both time to prepare something and also the time to eat what I prepared. Shamefully, I either don’t eat…or even worse, I grab the convenient and usually wrong thing for me to eat.
But a recent quest to do better for me (as in my New Year’s resolution), I’ve been forcing myself to find healthier options that include eating more protein, fewer sweets and fewer carbs.
This product seemed like a perfect solution for me…LOL, versus a donut!
Is Just Crack and Egg all it’s cracked up to be?
Would it taste good?
Would it really be quick and easy?
Would it be worth the price?
The answer to all three questions is a definite YES!!
My first Just Crack an Egg Breakfast…
So here’s how my first Just Crack an Egg experience went…
A normally busy morning was the perfect opportunity for me to give the first one a try.
The most difficult part was when I had to peel off the discounted price tag and then soak it enough to rub off the paper portion that was covering the cooking directions. Since I’ve never had one of these before I didn’t know how to make them. I definitely needed the directions to be sure I made it correctly.
So, after opening the product and removing the little packages of diced potato pieces, chopped onions and peppers and shredded cheese, the rest is reflective of the name…just crack an egg. Though there are a few more steps.
Bonus: I used one of our fresh chicken eggs, so this was an added frugal and delicious moment!
Next: Crack an egg. Put it in the cup.
Open all the packages of ingredients, add them to the cup.
Give everything a stir.
Put it in the microwave and cook for 40 seconds.
Give it a stir and cook another 30 seconds.
Remove from the microwave, (be careful, it’s hot), stir again.
Season with salt & pepper (optional).
Then enjoy. And that I did!
Just Crack an Egg Option…
So, I was thinking…if you didn’t stir the cooked product into a scrambled form, you would have a nice little omelet. Which is also an appealing and delicious breakfast.
Delicious convenience with little to no clean-up
So yes folks…I loved the convenience of Just Crack an Egg.
Making a traditional scramble requires more effort, more utensils, more dishes and a pan. All of which have to be washed afterwards. Just crack an egg had none of those extras.
I loved the easy prep (no cleaning & chopping veggies).
No cooking of raw sausage or raw veggies.
No cleanup. Well, except for the forks-of which I used 2 (1 for stirring the raw egg & 1 for eating the finished product). I guess if you used disposable forks, than you really wouldn’t have any clean-up!
I really loved the taste and textures. This was a win, win in my book!
Are 2 eggs better than 1?
I got to thinking, what if I took my second bargain purchase of Just Crack an Egg to another test?
So, I made the second Just Crack an Egg with 2 eggs instead of 1!
And in true fashion for me…I added an extra sprinkling of some shredded cheddar cheeses from my refrigerator supply of cheeses.
Remember when I said I was trying to eat more protein? Well here was a perfect opportunity for me!
Another Eggcellent Just Crack and Egg success!
Great news folks, my Just Crack an Egg with 2 eggs was just as perfect, just as easy and just as delicious as the one egg version! Still plenty of room in the cup for that 2nd egg and still enough fillings to make the breakfast rewarding and delicious!
Maybe they should relabel the package to say Just crack an egg…or 2!!
Just Crack an Egg…it’s not just for breakfast any more
As I was enjoying my Just Crack an Egg breakfast, I kept thinking these would be a convenient source of nutrition for people taking their lunch to work. As well as those caregivers, busy moms and grandmas like me that don’t have time to cook and eat breakfast, so this would also make a nice lunch or even supper.
In Just Crack an Egg conclusion…
I’m sure the normal price for Just Crack an Egg varies in different areas. They are close to $3.00 each here. They were on sale 2 for $5.00. But the bargain price of $1.79 each swayed me into trying this product. And I’m so glad I did. I will definitely be trying these again soon as well as other varieties of Just Crack an Egg.
